50th Anniversary Luncheon

...yes it was!

"Thank you to all those involved in making Saturday such an outstanding success. It was a wonderful
way to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Pony Club in WA.
I know how much thought, time and effort goes into making occasions such as these a success and you
obviously left no stone unturned to ensure that it was a great celebration. The day was a marvelous mix of
young and old and it was particularly heartening to have the young people there.
Congratulations, also, on the beautiful production of ‘Reflections and Recollections’. Reading it brought
back many memories.
I would also like to thank the Executive for my nomination for the ‘S’ Certificate. It was a surprise and an
honour to receive this recognition.
Thank you all, once again. It was a great day!"

50th Anniversary Luncheon
On the 12th November nearly 200 Pony Club enthusiasts from all over the
state gathered at the beautiful Mulberry on Swan for the
PCAWA 5oth Anniversary Luncheon.
It was heart warming to see those committed people who have been involved in
the journey of Pony Club in Western Australia since its formative years
catching up with friends from years gone by and sharing stories
with the young and young at heart.
Lots of memorabilia was on display providing plenty of laughs, tears,
and trips down memory lane. Also a great opportunity for our more junior pony
clubbers to see how our great Association has evolved.
All those riders who have represented PCAWA at State, National and
International level this year were presented with a Certificate of Recognition.
“S” Certificates who also presented to deserving recipients in recognition of
outstanding and supportive contribution to the ideals of Pony Club
over a number of years.
Thank you to Mulberry on Swan for not only sponsoring this wonderful
event, but also for providing such a lovely venue and outstanding
food and service.

Pony Club at the Royal Show
What a great week we had!
The glitz and glamour of the dressage, the colour and magic of the Musical Ride and the
thrills (and spills!) of novelties and PPMG.
Thank you to all of our participating riders – you were fantastic ambassadors for PCAWA
and your clubs receiving much praise from all involved at the Royal Show
for your presentation and conduct.
Thank you to all of the parents for the time, effort and distances travelled to support your
children riding at the show. Thank you to the Active Riding and Dressage sub committees
for all of your help through the week.
Thank you to Red and Ashley for staying to take photos each night.
Lastly thank you to all RAS staff for their help and support.

South Midlands celebrated the PCAWA 50th Anniversary at our July Rally. After normal lessons
in the morning most of our members from Lead Line through to K changed into Fancy Dress.
The theme was 1960’s. Costumes ranged from Carnaby Street to Hippies and many ponies
and horses were also in Fancy Dress.
Following the Fancy Dress riders were divided into teams and sent off to hunt for
Golden Horseshoes that had been hidden around the grounds. Ninety shoes were
hidden and 87 came back, proving that our members are pretty good
gold prospectors.
Our members filled out a profile on their Pony Club activities and added a photo. These, along
with photos of coaches and a club newsletter will be placed in a time capsule and buried.
In ten years time we will dig up the time capsule and hold a 60 year celebration!

Kellerberrin Riding & Pony Club
Photos of our last rally day at Kellerberrin Riding & Pony club which incorporated a
celebration of PCAWA 50th Anniversary. We asked James Scott and Doreen Dowding who
are not only life members but continue to be on call for assistance to day to cut the cake.
We hope that you liked this cake, we thought it was awesome.
The riders all plaitted up and did a quadrille and entertained past and present members
who then tucked into an amazing afternoon tea supplied by current members.
It was a lovely day and we thought you might like to see how we celebrated.
