  Eventing Series

Please call 9296 1500 if any changes need to be made.

Classes:

Classes Grade Age Group
1 A 14 - 25
2 B 12 - 25
3a C 10 - 15
3b C 16 - 25
4a D 8 - 12
4b D 13 - 25
5a E 4 - 12
5b E 13 - 25

Clubs:

  • Must pay $2.50 levy on every pony club class entry to be able to have points awarded for their event (participate in the series). Each club must pay the levy for every rider in every pony club class. This restriction shall not be changed under any circumstance.
  • Must have stewards and abide by all PCAWA rules for eventing (refer to PCAWA eventing handbook, latest edition).
  • The event must be open to all PCAWA riders. In other words, zone events are not included.

    Administration by clubs:

  • Event organisers would need to ensure that the entire class results are sent including completions and the penalties of all riders, this is to ensure that they are within the qualifying penalties. Many clubs already do this.
  • All results must include: Age of all pony club riders and the Pony Club they belong to. This is very important and last year was a major problem. Please be aware that any clubs that use K-trails need to handwrite this information onto the results as K-trails does not include it.
  • Full names of riders.
  • Collect the levy from all PCAWA riders and send it along with the steward's levy to the PCAWA office along with the correctly submitted results.

As there are only 3 weeks between the close of the series and the presentation it would be greatly appreciated if clubs who hold events within 6 weeks of the State Eventing Championships would forward their results immediately to avoid processing delays. All other clubs, it would be great if you could send in your results within 2 weeks of the event to help keep the leader board updated. This is very important as in 2004 the organizer received approximately 11 club results about 3 weeks before presentations which made it very hard to be able to finalise the series and also let the riders know of their placings.

Scoring:

Points for 1st to 6th SCALED as per grade (see below).

1. BONUS for Inter-zone (standard points x 1.5) and/or SEC (standard points x2)

2. BONUS points awarded for travel (see graph). Please note that traveling points shall not be awarded for State Eventing Championships. To gain points the riders must complete within the qualifying penalty limit as outlined in the handbook.

3. BONUS 5 points for upgrading.

STANDARD GRADING POINTS SYSTEM

Place Points
1st 7
2nd 6
3rd 5
4th 4
5th 3
6th 2
Completion 1

** Please note that points shall only be awarded if results are within the qualifying penalties outlined in the PCAWA Eventing Handbook. **

Penalties: Would be applied to those who incur disciplinary action from PCAWA stewards. This may be in the form ofeither removing that riders points for that competition or by even removing the rider from the series. This decision shall be made by the junior committee in liaison with the Eventing committee.
Equalities: When there are equal points at the end of the series then the discriminating aspects are:
1st - Highest amount of travelling points
2nd - Highest amount of upgrade points
3rd - Best performance at State Eventing Championships (most points earned then best score overall if points are equal).
Horse Names: It is very important that horse's names are not changed during the course of the series unless formal notification is given to the series organiser so they are aware, for scoring purposes.
Upgrading: As stated above, you get a bonus 5 Points for upgrading (points only awarded after 2 runs at the height) , however once you have completed a event at the higher level and within the qualifying penalties you will not gain points for any runs obtained at the lower level unless a very good reason is supplied, this is to ensure the series is fair.
Season: (12 month period) to run from close entries of SEC 2007 (inclusive) to close of entries for SEC 2008
Presentations: To take place on Saturday night of SEC 2008
Awards:

Rugs to winners of each class.
Vouchers to all place getters.
Rosettes or ribbons 1st to 6th.

** (awards depend upon SPONSORSHIP and levy revenue).

"Bustin Thru" Trophy to Strongest club trophy (this is for the club with the highest percentage of riders competing so all Clubs have a chance at winning, not just the big ones)

Information: Once the series is running we hope to have the points up on the PCAWA web site and displayed where possible at events.

Aims and Objectives of the series:
1. Increase interest in Pony Club Eventing
2. Reward participation
3. Reward success
4. Reward upgrading
5. Discourage stasis (avoiding the upgrade)
6. Penalize those who incur disciplinary action by the stewards of PCAWA
7. Reward those who participate in state events
8. Reward traveling
9. Give Pony Club riders more opportunities
10. Support Pony Club courses.

Sponsorship: The Riders Subcommittee is currently offering to any interested persons the opportunity to sponsor a class in the Eventing Series, at a cost of $350.00 per class.

This would be used to cover awards and any administration relevant to that class. This would see the sponsor's names on the awards that are relevant to that class; sponsors would also be invited to the awards ceremony to present their class' awards.

We would also have sponsors' names on all promotions related to the series and hopefully on the web site with the points as the year goes on. We shall also endeavor to display sponsors' names wherever possible. (Clubs please note that we are aware that a lot of you already have event sponsors, we do not intend to have Series sponsorship conflicting with your own sponsorship. However if it is at all possible, it would be fantastic to display series sponsors' names at your events. You never know, your sponsors may want to be involved in this youth movement). If your club knows of anyone, or you yourself are interested in this sponsoring events, please let us know. The contacts are below.

I am very willing to negotiate any sponsorship offers so please do not hesitate to make an offer or ask a question.

Clubs and Riders Please Note: The above guidelines and application of the Series is the plan for this year. If during this year we realize that some aspects are not running smoothly or riders and clubs make suggestions, we are willing and able to change things for the following series. Riders need to be aware that the series points will be awarded for all pony club classes but only one of your horses will be able to win a series class and only one horse will be placed per class. If you are placed on more than one horse at the end of the series you will be consulted as to which horse should be your nominated place getter. (Usually the higher placed or higher graded horse)
Justification - Upgrade Points: One of the objectives of the Series and Pony Club in general is to encourage our riders to improve themselves.

The reason that we are offering 5 points for upgrading is to encourage our riders to try the higher grade and also provide a fairer competition for the riders in the lower grade.  We want all riders in each grade to be genuine contenders at that grade.

Justification - Levy: The series does incur costs such as prizes, rugs, administration and trophies. We also have plans to improve the quality of pony club eventing and help clubs who run events, so the levies are designed to cover these costs.
Enquiries or Suggestions: Please e-mail me if you have any suggestions or comments regarding the series Email renee@pcawa.com
